2026.08.1306:00:00UTC+00UK Industrial Output Slide Eases in June, Hinting at Stabilisation

UK industrial production contracted for a second consecutive month in June 2026, but the pace of decline slowed, suggesting tentative signs of stabilisation in the sector. Month-over-month output fell by 0.2% in June, an improvement on May’s 0.5% drop, according to data updated on 13 August 2026.

The figures are measured on a month-over-month basis, meaning June’s performance is compared with May, while the earlier May reading reflected changes relative to April. Although production remains in negative territory, the moderation from -0.5% to -0.2% indicates that the downturn in industrial activity may be losing momentum.

The latest numbers will be closely watched by market participants and policymakers as they assess the underlying strength of the UK’s industrial base and its contribution to broader economic growth in the second half of 2026.
