In May 2025, Argentina's economic activity increased by 5% year-on-year, marking a slowdown from the revised growth rate of 8% seen in April. This deceleration was primarily attributed to subdued growth across several sectors. Specifically, agriculture rose by 1.7%, down from 4.2%; manufacturing saw a 5% increase compared to the previous 7.8%; construction grew by 6.7%, down from 16.7%; trade expanded by 10%, a drop from 16.8%; hospitality increased 6.1%, slightly down from 6.9%; transport and communications advanced by 1.1%, compared to 2.7%; financial services grew by 25.8%, down from 28.4%; real estate rose 3.7%, down from 6.3%; and education grew 1.1%, slightly down from 1.3%. Utilities experienced a deeper contraction, reducing by 9% from a previous 3.6% decline, and the public sector also worsened, contracting by 0.9% compared to a 0.8% decrease. Conversely, the fishing industry showed a strong recovery with a 12.2% increase from a previous decline of 20.2%, social and healthcare services improved, rising 1.1% compared to 0.6%, and mining maintained steady growth at 4.7%. On a seasonally adjusted monthly basis, overall activity saw a minor decline of 0.1%, although the trend-cycle component experienced a rise of 0.4%.
